Structured data is how your website tells machines, in an unambiguous format, the facts a human would pick up from reading the page: your business name, what kind of business it is, where it is, how to contact you and which social and review profiles are yours. For AI search, that matters because an assistant has to connect your website, your brand name and what others say about you into one consistent picture.

It’s not magic. Markup won’t make an engine recommend you. But missing or contradictory markup is a common, easy-to-fix reason it can’t be sure about you.

Organization or LocalBusiness?

  • LocalBusiness if customers visit you or you serve a defined area: clinics, shops, restaurants, trades, agencies with an office. Use the most specific subtype that fits, such as Dentist, Restaurant, LegalService, Plumber or AccountingService.
  • Organization for online-only businesses, SaaS products and brands without a public location.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Placeholder values. Never publish “123 Main Street” or sample hours. Wrong data is worse than none.
  • Markup that disagrees with the page. The address, phone and hours in your schema should match what visitors see.
  • Several conflicting Organization blocks. SEO plugins, themes and page builders sometimes each add one. Check the page source and keep one.
  • Marking up reviews you wrote yourself. Self-serving review markup is against Google’s guidelines.

Adding it in WordPress

  1. If you use Yoast or Rank Math, fill in their Organization / Local business settings first. They output schema for you.
  2. For a custom block, paste the code into your homepage <head> with a header-scripts plugin such as WPCode.
  3. Test with Google’s Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator.

Check it automatically

The AI Visibility Fixer reads the structured data on your live homepage, flags a missing or wrong entity type, generates the block from your real site details, and confirms it on re-test. Pair it with entity SEO for AI search for the content side.

Frequently asked questions

Does schema make AI mention my business?

No markup guarantees a mention. Structured data removes ambiguity about who you are, which makes it easier for search engines and AI systems to connect your site, your brand and your profiles.

Should every page have Organization schema?

Put the full Organization or LocalBusiness block on your homepage (or About page). Other pages can reference it, but you do not need to repeat everything everywhere.

What if I have several branches?

Give each branch its own LocalBusiness block on its own location page, with that branch's address, phone and opening hours.
