Getting Started
What is Onxeera?
Onxeera is a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) platform. It helps you understand how AI-powered search and answer engines — like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity — perceive, describe, and cite your brand or website, and gives you concrete steps to improve that visibility.
Onxeera is not a traditional SEO tool. Instead of tracking rankings on a search results page, it focuses on how your brand shows up inside AI-generated answers.
What is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)?
GEO is the practice of optimizing your online presence so that generative AI systems are more likely to reference, quote, or recommend your brand when answering a user's question. Where SEO optimizes for search engine crawlers and ranking algorithms, GEO optimizes for how large language models interpret, trust, and cite content.
Key differences worth understanding:
- Audience: SEO targets search engine crawlers; GEO targets the reasoning and retrieval behavior of AI models.
- Outcome: SEO aims for higher rankings; GEO aims for being cited, quoted, or recommended inside an AI-generated answer.
- Signals: GEO cares heavily about content clarity, factual structure, entity recognition, and citability — not just backlinks and keywords.
How Onxeera works
At a high level, Onxeera works in four steps:
- You run a check on a URL or brand using the AI Visibility Checker, Competitor Analyzer, or Content Optimizer.
- Onxeera's AI engine researches your site and evaluates it against the signals that influence AI citation and recommendation behavior.
- You get a score and a breakdown — an overall GEO Score plus sub-scores across content quality, brand authority, technical foundation, AI readability, and citation strength.
- You get prioritized recommendations so you know exactly what to fix first, and you can track how your score changes the next time you run a check.
Creating an account
- Go to Sign Up and enter your name, email, and a password.
- Check your inbox for a verification email and confirm your address.
- You'll be guided through a short onboarding flow (your role, your primary goal, and your workspace name) before landing on your dashboard.
You can run a limited number of checks without an account, but creating one lets you save results, track history over time, and access your full dashboard.
Setting up your first project
- From your dashboard, go to AI Visibility.
- Enter the URL or brand name you want to check.
- Run the check. Your first audit becomes the baseline every future comparison (trend charts, "What's Changed") is measured against.
- Add one or more competitors under Competitors to see how you compare.
Understanding the dashboard
Your dashboard is organized into the following areas:
- Overview — your current GEO Score, per-engine averages, score breakdown, and top recommendations.
- AI Visibility — run new checks and browse your check history.
- Citations — see where and how AI engines are referencing your content.
- Competitors — compare your GEO Score against competitors you've added.
- Content Optimizer — get content-level suggestions to improve citability.
- Keywords & Queries — currently an honest "not tracked yet" placeholder; query-level tracking isn't available in the product yet.
- Historical Trends / Reports — see how your score has changed over time, and export a report.
- Clients — manage separate client brand workspaces (Agency plans).
- Alerts — rule-based notifications based on real changes in your own data.
- Onxeera AI — a chat assistant scoped to your own saved results (Beta).
- Settings — your profile, password, notifications, workspace, team, and personal API key.
AI Visibility Checker
What AI visibility means
AI visibility is a measure of how likely an AI engine is to know about, understand, and favorably reference your brand or website when it's relevant to a user's question. High AI visibility means your content is structured and positioned in a way that makes it easy for an AI model to cite confidently.
How to run a visibility check
- Go to AI Visibility Checker.
- Enter a website URL or brand name.
- Click Run Check. Onxeera researches the site and returns your GEO Score within moments.
Free accounts include a limited number of checks per month (shown on your pricing page and dashboard). Paid plans include a higher or unlimited allowance depending on your plan.
How results are calculated
Every check produces an overall GEO Score along with five sub-scores:
- Content Quality — depth, accuracy, and usefulness of your published content.
- Brand Authority — how established and trustworthy your brand appears across the web.
- Technical Foundation — crawlability, structured data, and technical signals that help AI systems parse your site.
- AI Readability — how clearly your content is structured for an AI model to extract and summarize.
- Citation Strength — how citable your content already is (clear facts, sourcing, definitions).
These scores come from an AI-driven analysis of your actual site — Onxeera does not use a fixed formula or template scores.
How to understand visibility reports
Your report includes your GEO Score, the five-part breakdown above, and a prioritized list of recommendations. If you've run more than one check over time, you'll also see a trend chart of your GEO Score and a "What's Changed" summary comparing your two most recent checks.
How to improve your results
Each report includes specific, prioritized recommendations tied to your lowest sub-scores. In general:
- Improve Content Quality by publishing clearer, more complete, and well-sourced content.
- Improve AI Readability by using clear headings, direct answers to likely questions, and well-structured lists.
- Improve Citation Strength by including clear facts, definitions, and data points AI models can safely quote.
- Improve Technical Foundation by ensuring your site is crawlable and uses structured data where relevant.
You can also use the Content Optimizer to get suggestions for a specific page.
Citation Tracker
What AI citations are
An AI citation is any instance where an AI engine references, quotes, or recommends your brand in a generated answer. Citations are the core signal GEO is built around — the more consistently and accurately AI engines cite you, the more AI-driven traffic and trust your brand earns.
How citation tracking works
Citation data in Onxeera is derived from the checks you run — every AI Visibility check and Competitor comparison contributes citation-related signal tied to your saved history. This means citation tracking becomes more useful the more regularly you run checks, since it's built entirely from your own real results rather than a separate live-polling system.
How to monitor new and lost citations
From your dashboard's Citations panel, you can review citation-related findings from your check history. Combined with the Alerts panel and the "What's Changed" summary on your Overview page, you'll be notified of meaningful shifts between your two most recent checks — for example, a notable change in citation strength or competitor position.
How to use citation insights
Use citation insights to prioritize where to focus content updates — a drop in citation strength is a signal to revisit clarity, sourcing, or structure on the pages driving that score.
Competitor Analyzer
How to add competitors
- Go to Competitor Analyzer.
- Enter your own URL/brand and one or more competitor URLs or brand names.
- Run the comparison to see a side-by-side GEO Score comparison.
How competitor comparison works
Onxeera researches each brand in the comparison and scores them using the same GEO Score methodology used in the AI Visibility Checker, so results are directly comparable. Once you've saved two or more comparisons, your dashboard's Competitor Position shows your real, current rank among the brands you've compared (for example, "#2 of 4") rather than an estimate.
How to identify visibility gaps
The per-sub-score gap breakdown shows how you compare to the average of your saved competitors across Content Quality, Brand Authority, Technical Foundation, AI Readability, and Citation Strength — so you can see exactly where the gap is, not just an overall score difference.
How to find opportunities
Your dashboard's Top Opportunities list (on the Overview page) automatically surfaces a competitor-based opportunity whenever your last comparison ranked you below #1, alongside any weak sub-scores and a reminder to refresh your audit if it's more than 30 days old. Every item shown there is backed by a real, current condition in your own saved data.
AI Content Optimizer
How content analysis works
The Content Optimizer analyzes a specific piece of content — a page, article, or draft — and returns a GEO score for that content along with sub-scores across keyword usage, entity clarity, citation potential, structure, readability, authority signals, and schema/structured data.
How to understand recommendations
Recommendations are generated directly from the content you submit — Onxeera highlights specific, actionable changes (for example, adding clearer definitions, restructuring a section, or adding schema markup) rather than generic advice.
How to use recommendations to improve content
- Apply the highest-impact recommendations first — these usually correspond to your lowest sub-scores.
- Re-run the optimizer after making changes to confirm your score improved.
- Use the AI Visibility Checker periodically to confirm improvements are reflected at the site level, not just the page level.
Reports and Analytics
Historical reports
Every check you run is saved to your account. Your Reports panel lists your full check history, so you can revisit any past result.
Performance trends
Once you have enough saved history, your Overview page shows a trend chart of your GEO Score over time, plus a "What's Changed" comparison between your two most recent checks — covering both your overall score and each of the five sub-scores (changes smaller than 5 points are treated as noise and not flagged).
Understanding changes over time
A "What's Changed" or Alerts entry only appears when there's a real, measurable difference between two real checks — Onxeera intentionally does not show a change indicator when there isn't enough history to support one.
Exporting and sharing reports
- CSV export — export your check history as a spreadsheet-friendly CSV file.
- PDF-style export — open a clean, print-ready report view for any check, then use your browser's Print → Save as PDF to generate a shareable PDF.
White-label report options are available on eligible plans — see Pricing for details.
Onxeera AI Beta
Onxeera AI is a chat assistant built directly into your dashboard. It answers questions about your own saved results — your scores, your history, your competitor comparisons, and your ranked opportunities.
What it can currently do
- Answer questions about your saved audits, competitor comparisons, and score breakdowns.
- Reference your ranked opportunities and competitor position when suggesting what to focus on next.
- Generate a structured 7-day plan or 30-day plan — a numbered checklist of steps, each tied to a real opportunity or recommendation already in your account.
What it won't do
Onxeera AI is explicitly instructed not to invent numbers. If you don't yet have enough real data for a question — or for a 7-day/30-day plan — it will tell you that directly instead of guessing.
