To recommend you, an AI system first has to be sure who you are. “ABC Dental” might be a clinic in Islamabad, a supplier in Ohio or a hundred other things. Entity SEO is the work of making your business one clear, consistent, well-connected thing that machines can’t confuse with anything else.

Keywords vs entities

Keyword thinking asks “which words should this page contain?”. Entity thinking asks “which real thing is this page about, and what is it connected to?”. For AI search, the second question matters more. Assistants answer about businesses, people and places, not about strings of text.

The five signals of a clear business entity

1. A consistent name

Use exactly the same business name on your website, in your structured data, on Google Business Profile, LinkedIn, directories and invoices. “ABC Dental”, “ABC Dental Clinic” and “ABC Dentistry” look like three different businesses.

2. A plain-language definition

Somewhere prominent, ideally the homepage intro and the About page, write one sentence that defines you: “ABC Dental is a family dental clinic in Islamabad, Pakistan, offering general dentistry, whitening and orthodontics since [year].” That sentence is what you want AI to repeat.

3. Structured data

Organization or LocalBusiness markup with name, url, logo, contact details, address and sameAs links states the same facts in machine-readable form. See our schema guide.

4. A real About page

Who founded the business, when, who’s on the team and what their qualifications are, where you operate, and what you’re known for. Facts, not adjectives. This is where expertise and trust signals live.

5. Connected profiles

Link your official profiles from your site and list them in sameAs. Each one is a confirmation from outside your own website that this business exists and is the same one. More in AI citation sources.

Common entity problems

  • A homepage that’s all slogan and no definition
  • Different names or old addresses across profiles
  • No About page, or one with two sentences
  • Several conflicting Organization schema blocks from different plugins
  • A personal brand and a company brand mixed together without explanation

Check your entity signals

The AI Visibility Fixer checks the entity side of your site, including structured data, brand in the title, About page depth and connected profiles. It drafts an improved About description from your own content, with [placeholders] for facts only you know.

Frequently asked questions

What is an entity in SEO?

A distinct, identifiable thing such as a business, person, place or product, as opposed to a keyword. Search engines and AI systems try to understand which entity a page is about and how entities relate.

My business name is common. What can I do?

Be explicit and consistent: always pair the name with your category and location, use the same name everywhere, and connect your profiles with sameAs links so systems can tell you apart.

Do I need a Wikipedia page?

No. Most businesses are not eligible and should not try. Strong, consistent profiles on relevant platforms matter far more for most companies.
